This is how Lindi and Russel, the DIY home renovation bloggers behind www.lovecreatecelebrate.com
are managing renos in their new home.
Inspired by the one room challenge—this is their sixth time participating!—Lindi and Russel are amazed at what can be accomplished in just a few weeks. Now that the makeover is complete, they can barely remember what the old bathroom looked like.
Check it out:
SHOWER IN STYLE
Step one was replacing the tub with a gorgeous corner shower unit. They opted for clean, elegant 6 x 6 square white tiles lined with black grout for the walls and a funky retro pattern on the floor. The black and white theme brings loads of character into the space and is the polar opposite to mottled beige linoleum.
A Delta® shower head
in Champagne Bronze® provide the perfect contrast against the white tiles.
BETTER IN BLACK & WHITE
Lindi had wanted a black ceiling for years and this was her chance. The black ceiling complements the black and white theme of the tile and grout. A bold and striking choice that gives the room a contemporary edge.
Their collection of beautiful Turkish bath towels—detailed with black stripes keeping with the colour scheme—needed to be displayed, and these sleek wall hooks did the trick. The pop of bronze hardware was a nice counter-balance to faucets. More towels found a home on the functional black towel ladder that also brought some height to the room. To break up the full blank wall, Lindi and Russel opted for minimal open shelving and selected a few favourite items for display. Simple wall brackets and a couple of hanging plants in black pots added to the renewed look.
HELLO PONY WALL
Why put in a full wall when a half will do? This pony wall fits perfectly next to the toilet and is a practical (yet crafty) place to store toilet paper. A magazine shelf was added to house some reading material for those who require a bit of extra time in the loo. And the toilet paper holder
adds another dash of bronze to the space.
Their new water efficient toilet with its elongated bowl and concealed trap is a huge improvement over the older model. Goodbye seashell lid!
SOAK IT UP
The striking two-tone black and white tub is the first thing you see when you enter the room. And the stylish soaker is big enough to fit all three kids! Talk about a time saver.
What says luxury more than a freestanding tub with a standing tub filler
? Obviously, it had to be Champagne Bronze®.
While Russel uses his background in woodworking for their projects, Lindi is the interior stylist of the pair. She chose a gorgeous wood vanity that adds warmth and texture to the room. The inside scoop? “Design-conscious can be budget-conscious” is the motto behind Lindi’s company of choice to update a simple vanity.
BEHIND CLOSED DOORS
The final addition to this modern bathroom renovation was to add some storage units. Russel was tasked with moving the wall a few inches so the pre-fab wardrobes would fit into the side of the room. Some extra work for him, but as you can see, the payoff was worth the effort.
